PSYCHOTHERAPY at Health In The Bay.

PsychotherapyWhat is Psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy is based within a therapeutic relationship which promotes the client to explore the way they relate to others and to themselves, allowing them to find more satisfying and contactful ways of being in the world and being with themselves. Effective Psychotherapy uses what emerges in the therapeutic relationship to help heal old patterns of thinking, feeling and being. This works on the basis that what happens in the room is a microcosm of what happens outside in the world and by gaining awareness what happens inside the room, the client also gets an awereness of how this also happens outside the room in their lives.

What Psychotherapy approaches are used at Health In The Bay?

At Health In The Bay, our Psychotherapist is trained in a broad range of counselling and psychotherapy modalities. This allows his approach to fit and suit a broader range of clients and their challenges and issues. Robbie is trained in Gestalt Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour therapy (CBD), Family Systems therapy, Client centred counselling, Systemic constellations and Neuto Emotional Technique.

What are the typical outcomes of counselling?

Outcomes are dependant on the needs and focus of the client. Some typical outcomes of Psychotherapy include:

  • Reduction in anxiety, and clearer ways of managing ongoing anxiety.
  • Understanding of ones anger and the ability to use anger appropriately.
  • Being able to be more present with others and ones self.
  • A fuller understanding and acceptance of self and others.
  • Increasing ones ability to know and get what they need.
  • To calm ones self and be able to sit in peace.
